Volunteer Opportunities
For decades, volunteers have come to Holy Family to serve the families of the Rio Grande Valley. From midwives and nurses, to babysitters and handymen, volunteers of all types have poured their hearts into Holy Family and shared their time and talents with the community we serve. Volunteers have the option to live and work on-site at Holy Family and quickly immerse themselves in the local culture. Volunteers enjoy time together as a community as well as individual free-time in the surrounding area. Former volunteers are scattered across the globe, as well as future volunteers who have yet to come. All are a special part of the "Holy Family family."
CNM Fellowships:
Fellowships are for new graduates or seasoned nurse-midwives that would like to gain out-of-hospital birth experience and solidify their midwifery training. We are a HRSA designated site which allows eligible staff to qualify for the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program. Fellows serve for a minimum of 6 months - 2 years and are provided with stipends and housing. Applicants must meet Texas RN and CNM requirements. Preference is given to those who speak Spanish and are committed to 9+ months of service.
Registered Nurse Volunteers:
Rolling applications are accepted for volunteer RNs and recent graduates. One-year service commitments are preferred. RN volunteers are provided with a stipend and housing.
General Volunteers:
We gladly welcome volunteers and groups interested in assisting with office work, facility maintenance, grounds work, etc. Some positions are also available for volunteers interested in learning more about midwifery and out-of-hospital birth. Past volunteers have included doulas, medical assistants, public health professionals, social workers, and pre-med and pre-nursing students. Commitments can range from summer projects to longer terms of service. Stipends are available based on experience and commitment.
